There is no universal answer. IF the airline sells the cards or miles directly -and- if they use their primary merchant account to process the charge, it should earn 5 points per dollar, the same as any other airline purchase. However, if the airline outsources the sales to another company (even a company with the airline's name included) -or- if the airline uses a different merchant account, it will not qualify.
