There was a report in the past couple of weeks of a website issue where sometimes the wrong reservations were being changed -- like, not even the same person as the one who was trying to make the change. I wonder if that's what bit you.

And, yes, what you're describing is ridiculous, especially since they should be able to see the history of the ticket
