I have a flight to and from LIS in mid to late April, flying through GVA. UA hasn't canceled the flight but for instance, they won't be flying the SFO-LHR segment in April which is the main segment on the outbound. Schengen has closed off entry by non-residents until at least 4/16/20 or so, which is after my outbound flights. That mean I wouldn't be allowed to enter LIS or maybe even transit through GVA.
So I know for the flight, UA will likely give some credit or ETC and then after a year since the issuance of the ticket, maybe they will refund. I will fight that battle separately.
But several of my hotel bookings were non-refundable. I've canceled the ones which were refundable as well as car rental reservations.
Would CSR process claims for the non-refundable hotels now? Because IIRC, they anchor the coverage to charging on the CSR for the main carrier (forget the exact term but it refers to the airline flight or a ship ticket if that is the way I was going to transport). I did buy the UA ticket with CSR but given that the refund status may not be settled for months, do I file the claim now?
I imagine they wouldn't care about State Dept. travel advisories but UA is cutting a lot of international flights for all of April and the Schengen situation probably will lead to cancellation.
Has anyone filed claims for CSR trip cancellation because of flight cancellations by the airline recently?
