That still wouldn’t make sense. If a plane plane goes MX at a station that doesn’t have spares sitting around (which is just about anywhere besides hubs) they’ll require MX. Additionally, all aircraft have periodic service checks that are every few days (if memory serves). There are lots of other reasons MX doesn’t just shut down.

Even aircraft destined for the desert also has MX concerns to prepare for storage. Many are handled by third parties, but it’s still completed.
