If being coughed on is such a concern, perhaps you shouldn't be traveling? Or travel by a means that you won't be exposed to so many others.
There is probably as great a risk at a TSA Checkpoint, check-in counter, interacting with the gate agent, and using restrooms (both in airports as well as on the aircraft).
