There was most probably (>%99) a valid reason for the request, that's it. I'm sorry you were offended.
In the Age of Coronavirus, passenger concerns about being coughed on shouldn’t be ignored. I’ve often seen FAs explain that seat changes are needed or can’t be done for weight/balance issues. This FA was a dragon.
