I was comped HH Gold due to airline status just over a year ago. I dont have enough hotel chain stays to get status in more than one program. The comp, plus some nice bonus offers, worked for me. This year already I have enough HH stays to requalify Gold.

My experiences as Gold have generally been quite or very favourable. Upgrades, free breakfast, water and other amenities, use of lounge where it exists, free drinks (lounge and comped bottles of wine), early check ins and late check outs. Of course there were one or two stays which didnt meet expectations but that is life. On the whole I am glad to have concentrated on Hilton.

Now my question is whether it is worth pushing for Diamond (and it will be a struggle to get - not many Hiltons down my way)?
