I don't think this happened quite so readily in the past, and my view is that employees should just say no. Large companies have reserves, and its completely right that they should be digging into these reserves to get them through hard times - instead of greedily hanging onto them in preference to asking their staff not to be paid.
You would think so but history has shown this isn’t the case. Wasn’t part of the pilots strike to do with them sacrificing certain pay and benefits when BA was in previous financial trouble and the pilots just wanted them reinstated? Look how BA treated them and now the airline is faced with another crisis it seems they have used up any goodwill left in any employee by the sounds of it.
