YUP is a restricted Y fare. But even AA is a bit confused about YUP sometimes, as I've been doled 1.5 EQPs and 1.0 EQPs for YUP, and even had a EXP desk agent tell me I only got 1.0 EQPs for a YUP ticket. (Given I'd already made EXP for 2005, I decided not to bother calling back; if it had mattered, I would have.)
And the EQP is based on the fare basis, not where you sit, just as when you upgrade with miles, VIPs or 500 mile upgrades, you earn on the fare basis you paid for your ticket, again,
not where you sit.

as noted on the Requirements page, Y should never be 1.0 q-points, except for government fares. In the 2004 regime it's always supposed to be 1.5.
