Well the AA flight from was at 1st delayed then later cancelled due to snow/Tower in ORD. The rebooking would have gotten us to MIA on 2/14 at 9 PM. This was for a flight out of GRB. I said we would fly out of ATW, MSN and MKE any airlines. Nope nothing. So we walked over to Delta and after about 30 minutes had a one way ticket out of MKE at 5;40 AM on 2/14 for over twice the price but getting into MIA at 11 AM.
Upon returning to GRB and picking up the vehicle in MKE we contacted CSR insurance contactor by phone. They said they would reimburse us for Hotel in MKE but nothing on airfare because Orbitz was going to credit the original flight, which was less than 50% of the flight difference to MIA. Just wondering if this sounds right or should they also reimburse us for the difference in airfares? We would have lost 2-3 days of cruising and would have had to purchase tickets to Cartagena, Columbia to catch up with the ship. I'm not sure if CSR would have covered this? Thanks for looking Jim M.
Trip Delay will pay for your hotel/meals/taxis while you wait out a delay. New expenses only, but no onward travel.
Trip Cancellation/Interruption reimburses you for things you miss for a covered reason. It doesn't cover new expenses (rare exceptions like change fees). Does not cover price of any new tickets under any circumstances. If you had completely missed your cruise it would probably covered the cancellation fee or no show fee for the cruise.
No Chase coverage pays for new tickets.
