We should all pursue our own interests (and there was a time and place when I might be on that plane beside you), but what an odd system we've built that encourages pointless flying on a money losing trip for the airline.
Seems like this would be a great time for them to introduce something like UA's PassPlus, but at a lower dollar value given the smaller network. Prepay some amount $5-$10K and get MVPG or MVPG75K up front, then spend it down over the course of a year and they could stretch the allowed time out to compensate for the pandemic period.
