Hadn't been here since late Oct. 2018.
Arrived yesterday for a 3-night stay. Found main driveway to lobby building closed and all traffic directed toward rear of property to reach the lobby building.
Yesterday was last day the main restaurant and lobby lounge would be open for a 4-month remodel. Breakfast moved to cramped, dark Knuckles Sports Bar.

Will give us a chance to enjoy some of Monterey Peninsula's many great breakfast places, instead.
Could get no ETA on when main driveway would re-open. At the same time, groups of rooms are being remodeled. We were offered one yest. in Bldg. 11, but it was near a large construction storage area and wouldn't be ready 'til a few hours. We opted for a ready, traditional golf-view room in Bldg. 8. Received no advance email as to the changes.
Today, something brief showed up on the booking page for this property: "Please note, Hyatt Regency Monterey will undergo an exciting transformation starting March through June 2020. TusCA Restaurant and Fireplace Lounge will be closed starting March 9, 2020. As part of this expansive redesign, we will introduce refreshed guestrooms and suites, new dining concepts and enhanced exterior landscape."
So several years ago, this property axed the RC Lounge, and for the next four months, there's no lobby or beautiful place to have breakfast, lunch, or dinner or just relax. This new management sure loves to make "exciting" changes!
They do tell me that the existing array of separate buildings will continue. The interior decor of the rooms will be upgraded. Some new, complex add-on ventilation system has been added. Since it's cool/mild outside, we just shut it off and are using the natural air to keep our desired temp.
