If it was me, if the impacts are significant, and if I couldn't get UA to rebook, then I would consider booking myself on one of the 3 non-stop YVR-LAX flights that leave YVR before 09:00. I'm comfortable with the risk as there is another American flight I could be rebooked on and still make my 14:00 connection to Lima, and even worse case, be rebooked on the Latam overnight flight. In that scenario I would lose a prepaid hotel night, but my insurance would cover that since everything was on the same ticket.
While the idea of booking another flight for cheap is interesting, I'm almost sure this would result in the rest of my flight segments being cancelled as first would be marked as a no-show.
