I used to never buy travel insurance. I figured there wasn't a need. In November 2019, we booked a trip to France, leaving February 10, 2020. I bought the trip insurance, because it was very inexpensive, so I figured I should add it. At the end of January, I was diagnosed with the flu. We canceled the trip, thanks to the trip insurance, because my doctor recommended that I not fly. Given that, the week after we were to return, I was diagnosed with pneumonia, I'm glad we canceled the trip.

I also learned my lesson. The insurance is nice when you need it, and you can't predict when you will need it.
