Compare BA's intransigent policy to that of the many airlines which see a little further ahead and court passenger good will by being reasonably accomodating. Add to this that airlines' fortunes have never been dependent on change fees (and this thread is not about cancellations or refunds which are not the topic), and BA's policy appears to be extremely short sighted. especially taking into account the cost of the unavoidable claims which will follow.

The major factor in court, I predict, will be the total lack of link between the risk to passengers and the booking date, exposing BA's policy of choosing the arbitrary date of March 2 or 3 to waive charges for changes as being nothing but a greedy marketing ploy. Airlines such as Delta or Southwest have understood this perfectly.
I'm sorry, but this really does read like a rant. There will be no court cases against BA, and no reparations will be due. BA is in the business of providing air travel services, not in ensuring that all passenger wellbeing concerns are addressed from beginning to end. BA does not wish you ill-health through your claims of negligence, though please feel free to demonstrate how you intend to prove that BA wilfully endangered your life in this manner. If you choose not to travel, then don't. Take up whatever losses you may have or will suffer with your travel or medical insurance policy and be done with it.
