It totally depends on the crew.

They complain if you need need something and go to the galley.
But they also complain if you ring the call button.
You are supposed to remain seated, silent, or comatose for the flight.

I was super-cautious on a recent AA international flight, where the forward galley and restroom share a space.
No problem at all. The crew struck up conversation, offered snacks, and the First Officer joined the party.

On a subsequent Southwest flight, the crew acted like the Delta Force when a frail elder in a cane stood up near the forward lavatory and forward galley. The frail man hadn’t realize that it was in use.
