Stayed here on 10k points award stay for one night in late Feb as Gold. Overall, for 10k points, this is a very good value.
Having said that, the service at front desk was probably the worst I encountered (compared with HGIs in KL and Hilton Kuching). Booked a basic standard room and was upgraded to deluxe room. Upon inquiring why I wasn't upgraded to an executive floor when there were plenty available, I was given a one page "gold benefit" handout at the hotel. It mentions only one level upgrade for gold members. So I asked to speak to a supervisor and she upgraded me to an "executive" floor. However, she acted as if this was a huge favor.
The room itself was ok, nothing special. The evening drinks and appetizers were ok as well. Breakfast was extensive for quantity but the quality was just ok. I really enjoyed the bircher museli but there was very little left when I went back for more. After 15 minutes and several inquiries, I got a bowl of granola in milk as bircher museli. They said that was all the museli they made for the day (apparantly they soak it overnight). FWIW, to give them the benefit of doubt, it was a Sunday morning so they didn't expect many guests?
If taking the LRT, Taman Jaya station is a 10-15 minute walk through a windy road. Asia Jaya station is a little closer at 7-10 minute walk. They provide shuttle to Taman Jaya on the hour but the schedule is limited on weekends.
I would stay here again for 10k points/nights, especially now that I'm diamond!
