Despite you misquoting me (the First was responding to a question of whether it is legal to fly with 3 crew- per of the question that you have removed in your quotation and the second cited why I didn’t believe it would be allowed), happy to admit that I wasn’t able to give the full situation, that it appears a returning flight from an outstation is apparently safe with one less crew than an outbound flight- madness if you ask me but that’s just my opinion.
To be clear, my posts were not intended to be an attack on the OP, I believe in Friendly posting as per the FT rules, I hope you do too despite your multiple OT posts criticising people for not believing what does on the face of it sound like quite a sensational story.
What is fantastic about FT is the community helps each other to improve our knowledge and grateful for those who have been able to further inform me in this and other threads.
As you can see up thread, I reached out to contacts in BA, who tell me whilst that are a lot of omissions from the OP’s initial post, the fact that a low-loaded flight was operated with 5 CC, with of having been warned and offered alternative flights, despite it being catered was given airport vouchers as the standard of catering would not be at BA’s best (I’m told there were given our over an hour before departure although OP does state 5-10 minutes before boarding and I wasn’t there so I don’t know).
Hopefully OP will return and update us, particularly if they pursue this with customer relations. To me it seams that BA Ops have tried really hard here to not cancel the flight, in which case we might have seen an equally critical post about how BA have the legal minimum to operate the flight but didn’t and then a debate on EC261/04.
Would I have taken the flight had I known, probably, it’s a night flight and will probably, it’s an overnight flight so would sleep for most of it in any case.
