Technically this is a legal connection (50 minutes for a domestic-to-domestic, which is what this would likely be classified as due to immigration pre-clearance), but it's extremely risky. Firstly if you have bags you're relying on UA to correctly check your them through to AA, which they should be able to do, but if they don't you're done. And even if they do, there's a non-zero chance your bags won't make the connection.

If your inbound is at least very close to on-time, and if the lines are security aren't too long, and if you don't get lost, then it's certainly doable, but it won't be fun.

Who did you actually buy the ticket from, as that's who you'll need to call. (AA if the ticket number starts with 001, UA if it's 016, Latam if it's 045). And yes, I'd be calling. And if they say no, hang up and call again!
