edi-traveller is right, on day flights booze seems to go down much better than on the night sectors. Trouble is I always have a few glasses of plonk in the lounge first, so I end up de-hydrating while I'm still sitting in the terminal.

I think FrequentFlyer99 is right too. If you're flying for work, then drinking is probably a no-no (although it depends on the individual). If you're flying for pleasure, especially in a premium cabin, then I would find it difficult not to indulge in some of the fine wines on offer.
