I was EE not through a status match until end of Feb. this year but due to Amex offer in 2018 (which is not a status match). I provide many possibiolities of status match when making request (hotel, credit card, other rental company, airline, ...)
For example, on Europcar, I still Privilege Executive since years, and rent only one or two times last year.
