It still doesn't seem fair to me that BA can sell you a ticket based on a particular cabin and then can randomly change the flight removing the cabin you booked, offering only a lower cabin and not offer any compensation as long as they do this with more than two weeks notice but "them's the rules". I think I would choose to be re-routed on a flight that has a First cabin rather than take the direct CW flight, especially as the OP needs the TP to maintain status. Re the double Avios I think the OP was referring to the promotion last year where providing you booked by 13 December You earn double base Avios, excluding cabin and status bonuses, on your next 10 qualifying BA flights (a return trip = 2 flights) on flights flown before 30 June 2020. If I remember correctly flights on AA and AY metal were valid for the promotion as long as they were BA ticketed. IF the OP accepts a re-route onto a First service on AA I suggest they confirm with YouFirst that it is ticketed on a 125 number. If they accept the CW flights I think they will still earn the double Avios as it is double base Avios and the flights are technically still on the original booking reference.
