Also, you do know the 789 has the exact same seat, right? And the 788 has the same seat as the Zodiac equipped 772's, which are just as "tight" as the Super Diamonds, so essentially switching to 788 or 789 flights will accomplish nothing in the space regard.

The 77W on the other hand has a great business product with a little more space and knee room than all of the above.
I fly 788’s and 789’s on LHR - ORD regularly and whilst the 788’s can wobble if the pax behind is fidgety I have not had the cut out issue at all. The tables on the 789 are restrictive as on the 772 but the knee slot is not present. Thinking while reading your comment may be it is row 1 which does not have the cut out issue.

Anyway all is well that ends well. AA were very apologetic and generous with miles; I have managed to rebook 2 trips to Chicago from 772’s to 788’s and used 2 E-VIP’s to upgrade the LHR-LAX-LHR legs of my summer trip to Hawaii to F (Business trip, really...).

I guess this sums up why I stick with AA. They do drop the ball like other airlines but then they do try to make things right. Just bad timing to encounter this on a weekend trip when body clock is not really in understanding mode. Still will stick to 787’s and 77W in future.

off topic ish, apologies etc. BA are starting 787 10’s and Boeing are testing their new 77X. Does anyone know what AA plans are for new deliveries and (now back on topic) what seats will be specified. I do hope the 77W seats are on the list but I suspect they may be too wide for 787 fuselage.
