When an engineer came on board with the paperwork for the flight desk, he told the cabin crew it was on his fault list and faulty seats could not be fixed at LAX. From the discussion it appeared they have to be removed from the plane to correct the issue. So I get noisy 5A. I found the seat width a bug issue. The table which does not fold away caused me problems and the cut out which gives knee room for one leg but not the other causes me a lot of problem as I have serious knee issues. All in all I would say terrible. I have a number of flights booked LHR-ORD which have been swapped from 788 to 772 which I am now changing to 788 or 789 flights and I have moved my 772 LHR-LAX flights to 77W, paying the upgrade to F. Undoubtedly the worst seat experience on AA wide body aircraft, which is unfortunate as the others are in the top class.
Based on your complaints, it seems you just need to stick to international F from here on out, as that is the only way to get the space necessary for you (and your knees) to be comfortable.
Also, you do know the 789 has the exact same seat, right? And the 788 has the same seat as the Zodiac equipped 772's, which are just as "tight" as the Super Diamonds, so essentially switching to 788 or 789 flights will accomplish nothing in the space regard.
The 77W on the other hand has a great business product with a little more space and knee room than all of the above.
