The seating was normally assigned more than 24 hours before the departure of the first flight. Sometimes, I got 20B or 20E or the row ahead of the first exit row. Those were very bad seats without recline, but I asked GA to switch to a better seat or a row of E-seats if flight was very empty. Phone line agent would never help switching seats for me. Of course, the 1K status helped at gate when I asked GA to get a better seat. When I had an IRROP, I asked 1K phone agent to assign me E+ seats, which was never refused.
