Basic Economy was literally HALF the price of regular economy for a recent itinerary.... so I booked Basic and will expect Basic.... but I'm just wondering, when it comes time to get a seat assignment, say at the gate or at the airport, is it common for Premiers to get Econ+?

ALSO - if you don't pay for a seat assignment, does "the system" try to seat you together when you check in, or is it random middle seats only (or therabouts)?
