As long as Marriott Surawongse sticks to the rules without providing an elaborate breakfast in the lounge such as Marriott Marquis Queen's Park does, it will remain a weakness. For people who do not care much about breakfast it's a non-issue but if you value breakfast when in Bangkok, it remains a sore point that makes me hesitant to come back given the wide range of alternatives in the city.
Agreed. There are so many choices in Bangkok so guests can afford to have all their boxes ticked even if breakfast isn’t number one on the list. This property is going up to Category 5, which brings it up to the redemption level (not that I would redeem points unless it’s Regis maybe) of SGS, Athenee, JW and Regis. If the cash price is equal or within 10% of SGS, it’s obvious which hotel I’d choose. I’d probably like to try Le Meridien, W and Athenee before here if I have the chance.
