Did anyone else book the special non-refundable 'Season of Discovery' (all meals included) rate that was available back in Nov-Dec? This was mentioned further up on the thread, the rate included all meals in a standard suite for THB 8,888 per night. I thought it looked like a great deal so we booked a 3-night stay for our upcoming honeymoon.
We're less than 2 weeks away from the date of arrival, so I double-checked my reservation page on the Bonvoy site only to find it now states in the rate details that my reservation is now listed as a 'local resident all inclusive offer' and that a valid ID is required upon check-in. I am absolutely sure that when I booked the reservation back in Dec that this was not the case. If I had seen such a restriction on this rate I would have gone with a different option.
When I called RC customer service they were not able to see any details other than the local resident restriction that is currently showing. The rep said she is contacting the hotel directly to get clarification and that I should get an email response from hotel management in the next few days.
I'm not sure what my options are if they tell me that the rate is in-fact not applicable to non-residents. I would have never expected a bait-and-switch situation like this with a Ritz Carlton property. I'll report back once I get a response, but I'm curious whether anyone else has run into this situation?
