I recall there were way more unusual rituals at breakfast -- like the ridiculously long chain of passing an order for a hot drink, or only one omelet station being allowed to cook the eggs on both sides. I suggest you adjust your attitude and enjoy the local customs, or perhaps travel closer to your comfort zone.
