Yes on "you get what you pay for" but no and no on headphones! IMO over the ear headphones are great for home use and superb at blocking external sound but too bulky and uncomfortable for sleeping on planes or gym use.
As a result I suppose this is a bit OT but I much prefer earbuds which I find more comfortable for sleeping (similar to earplugs). I have an old pair of wired SHURE earbuds that excel at blocking ambient noise and provide great sound quality. That said I have been testing different Bluetooth earbuds (except apple) in hopes of finding something comparable. Unfortunately most are duds that continuously drop sound when streamed from spotify, much less downloaded videos. The exception is a pair of Sennheiser MOMENTUM earbuds, which provide excellent sound and (knock wood) have yet to drop the connection. But they still do not block external sound as well as my SHUREs, and the battery life is piss poor compared to BOSE soundsport (though the latter were garbage as they could not maintain a simple Bluetooth connection).
