Doubletree Regina Downtown, Saskatchewan, Canada
Just a quick note that I had a good stay at a reasonable price at an updated hotel with a good location in downtown Regina. Not necessarily the hotspot in middle of winter but good from perspectives of comfort, space, reasonable full hot breakfast with omelet station free for Diamonds and friendly staff. Restaurant (Sage Kitchen) was at least competent and I had a lunch and dinner there and would have gone back but had other obligations elsewhere.
Room was quiet and spacious although some of that space could have been allocated to the bathroom which was modern and bright and with sliding shower doors (no tub) but a bit cramped.
A solid 4 out of 5 for a mid-range hotel for me--would have given higher with a bit more spread at breakfast but it is miles ahead of Hamptons, Garden Inns, Holiday Inn Express etc.. I have another favorite Doubletree in Edmonton's west end that has one of the best North American buffet breakfasts at a mid-range hotel (and better than many higher end hotels I have been at) so I may have unfairly knocked a star off because of that.
