What we also have to remember, in this context, what is it that an airline wants from its FF Program. They only want people to buy more of their tickets and services. They do not want to give out top tier cards, they do not want to give out lounges accesses, upgrades or beamer rides for Y flyers, it's all there just to potentially sell more tickets.
Now, in an ideal situation, AY would get lots and lots of BAEC and other OW members to buy their tickets and using other FF programs rather than their own, the only benefit they see with AY Plus is the loyalty aspect. It's a thin balancing act and soon we'll see how far, if anywhere, AY is going this time. The last move was in favor of AY Plus members...taking that back now would not be a good move, and I'm sure they know it very well. They have many other ways to play around with the same stuff, not necessarily changing the earnings. All we know is that they are changing the ticket types, and introducing some more, they haven't announced AY Plus rewamp, have they?
