This is our first trip to Europe and we are doing 2 nights in Venice before heading down to Rome for 3 nights. We are staying at the St Regis in Rome as well so not sure if it would be good to do back to back St Regis or mix it up with a Gritti haha.
You likely can't go wrong with either, but the Gritti would get my vote if I only had one stay. I'm sure the St. Regis is great, but the Gritti has been one of the best hotels in Venice for a very long time. There is just something special about staying there.
