Thank you for your response you are correct we do not have any SNA's with gold status so either way we will be in a base room (unless upgraded but not counting on that). As of now we have the point nights booked at the Gritti but I have been looking recently at St. Regis and it has me reconsidering. They are in the same location but vastly different.....both seem like a good choice but having a hard time deciding. This is our first trip to Europe and we are doing 2 nights in Venice before heading down to Rome for 3 nights. We are staying at the St Regis in Rome as well so not sure if it would be good to do back to back St Regis or mix it up with a Gritti haha.
