Unless you specifically want to spend time at Caesars, Venetian/Palazzo and/or Wynn, I don't think there's anything disadvantageous about the PH location.
Be both know that on the strip, "adjacent" can be quite some distance. Not saying PH is in a bad location or in disadvantage, but it's kind of towards the end of center strip IMO. For someone that hasn't been to LV in 10 years, just figured Paris/Bally's is a more centralized location mid-strip. At Ballys, you can easily cross the blvd using the overpass vice crossing the street at PH where it can be quite hectic at times. Can cross into Bellagio then Caesars, and then into forum shops and back out. City Center is kind of dull, nothing but high end shops. After that, only worth while stuff walking distance wise is the new Eataly and arena areas. There's more happening towards the Paris/Ballys side with the High Roller and Linq Promenade a few minutes walk away.

All of this is null of course, as it would depend on OP's preferences.
