It didn't affect you, and you are going to re-think flying them? As you noted they were upgraded, from economy to first would be a double upgrade at that.
I arrived late from another flight, but still within the cutoff, for AKL-DOH. A young couple tried to board and one of their BPs didn't work. Turns out they worked for QR and had upgraded from economy to business and when I arrived they bumped the upgrader back. He threw a fit as he didn't want to sit 17 hours in the back while his girlfriend sat in business. Same thing could have happened on your flight.
