(Note: I hope this is okay to post here, last time I asked a MU question in "Other asian airline forums" it got royally ignored as those forums are dead!)
I've got a notification from my OTA that my June MU202 LGW-PVG flight has been cancelled. I know Covid19 has hit up Chinese airlines badly, but so badly to affect the June timetable already was unexpected.
Just checked on the Air France App, and looks like I have been proactively rebooked on a LHR-PVG flight about 12 hours later. Even the seat number has been kept (problem being I'm moving from 8A on the A330 to 8A on the 773 which has no window!! I've tried to change it on the China Eastern app, but that app is garbage and won't let me)
Now the real problem is my connecting flight to NRT which has been kept as the 9AM flight. As i now land at 15:40, that's going to be a rather big problem unless they have some time machines handy at Pudong. I intend to call the airline tomorrow to get this sorted but as I've not negotiated something like this before wanted to hear your expert opinion please:
* Any chance they will change my LHR-PVG flight to the Friday night flight instead of Saturday, and give me a free hotel night in Shanghai so I can take the original flight the next morning. (It's not forbidden to dream big!)
* If not, any chance to change the LHR-PVG to Friday and take a connection on Sat night instead of Sat morning. Would rather leave and arrive 12 hours early than 12 hours late.
* If doing so, can I ask to be booked into a HND flight instead of NRT without too much friction?
Thanks in advance.
And bonus question: What do you reckon are the chances that MU203 from PVG to LGW is going to be cancelled later in June, and I just don't know it yet?
