As a symbolic measure, sure, it would be problematic -- and it would also be a fairly strong indication of a prolonged travel slowdown. But I don't see what it would have to do with UA status, in and of itself. And I still don't think that any airline is ever going to roll over someone's status from year to year. And they definitely won't do it in February. There's little advantage to UA to tell people that they needn't bother trying to qualify for 2021 status.

Of course UA won’t do anything big now. But that’s still a lot of traffic for Team USAs flying partner to one of its major hubs outside the US.
My employer just banned travel to SIN and Japan, any conferences, Italy, etc so the ability to reach status is severely compromised. I can see UA even extending current status through say May 1 2021. Or longer if this knocks out summer season.
