Travel bans are only ineffective if they are circumvented. The concept of quarantine is widely recognized as an effective preventative against spread of infections.

Chastising a company for effectively banning their employees from travel is silly because they are really just trying to protect their employees.

This disease still has many unknowns associated with it and precaution is well advised. My trade organization has just informed us that they are considering canceling all events through SEP. That will cost me a lot of money if it happens but saving lives is more important than money.
