Interesting. Flying regularly to SFO, almost always on 772s, I find that if the plane is lightly loaded it will climb to 38k (and I am pretty sure a couple of times to 40k, but it’s possible that was a 747 or 773) over Northern Canada but if full it won’t go above 36k.
