There are no US local taxes on domestic air tickets.
The fact remains that whether one wants to quibble about whether the items for which OP was charged are taxes or fees, they are government-imposed. If an agent fails to collect them, then DL still pays them.
Perhaps DL is figuring out that these sums add up and is now after its employees to do their jobs.
