I believe that Sky Bonus is probably what triggers it for most people. My SB number has been included for years, and DL always showed "business" on the trip itineraries when I logged in, except in cases where I used an award or an ecredit. My guess is that for anyone without contracted rates, SB is what is triggering things.
SB# is only part of it.
I use SB on most of my PNRs, but almost every one is marked business. Even awards and things that are "typical" leisure-looking itins like a Friday-Sunday trip to MCO.
I also have a random Monday-Thursday ATL-MKE-ATL trip with SB# attached that is
not marked business, even though it most certainly is.
My guess is there's a bunch of drunk gnomes in DL's server room throwing darts at very large boards and that's the "algorithm".
