OK, the request is granted.
Just logged in Princess - while on My Bookings screen, the cruise still shows the same 20 days Northern Europe Passage, once getting into Manage This Booking page, the itinerary now is 19 days Ft. Lauderdale to Tallinn. In the Itinerary details, cruise ends on Apr 30, Tallinn. St. Petersburg is removed.
For now, it looks the request is approved and change is made.
That is a very prompt handling. We called Connexion on the morning of Tue Feb 18 to put in the request. I sent an email to Princess
[email protected] in late afternoon of Wed Feb 19. On Wed and Thur I did some research on Cruisecritics about Itinerary Changes - some prior years (2015 and 2017) threads said once the requests are granted, the itinerary would reflect the change on that booking, shown on Princess website. Some folks said Prncess also called them before the changes and then sent them a form to sign as confirmation on the changes.
Nobody calls us but the change is needed so obviously therefore Princess can certainly skip this step. They are overwhelmed bad enough with the Diamond Princess and the cancellations of all their Asian sailings by Sapphire Princess, plus the modification of Majestic Princess... They by far are the one that suffer the most in the whole industry, even though Royal has the most Asian sailings but they do not have an infected ship!
I am pleased by how Princess handling this. Also I am glad Connexions still handles the cruise bookings and NOT Expedia.
Will contact Connexions tomorrow to check if they have received the email confirmation on this change.
Meanwhile, we can now take a wait and see attitude - because if Russia lifts the ban before May, we can still enter Russia. Even if Princess wont let us change it again - there is a long distance bus from Tallinn to St. Petersburg - we took that back in 2013... That my husband reminds me on such... lol. So we may not need to quickly arrange flights from Tallinn as of now.
