I tried 4 times in autumn 2019:
ARN1: gate (ok)
GOT: check in (ok but no meal, which was totally ok)
CPH: check in (ok)
ARN2: gate (denied) - changed via TA for a fee

All were value tickets and all were upgraded, and upgrades stayed ok also.

So, it varies..
