Purchasing tickets on partner ticket stock, or tickets even on DL stock with partner marketed flight numbers, can be one cause of this.

But what you quoted from me wasn't related to seat assignment; it was DL trying to prevent F from being sold for less than Y on the same routing. This is why the dual inventory check, and lots of seats being sold in main cabin/basic, can affect F prices on DL now; because as the main cabin fare moves up, the dual inventory check will cause the F fare to move up as well, even if no additional sales were actually made in the F cabin.
