I enjoy the food and like the fact I can eat it when I want and I generally find the cabin crew friendly and efficient. As a J comparison, QR >>> BA for me.
Having been to Australia and back on QR over the past week on an ex-ARN deal, I have no complaints. The crew on all four sectors were great - particularly the return MEL-DOH and DOH-ARN (separated by two days thanks to meetings in Doha). Yes, the food can be repetitive - the menus were not much different to those on my last QR long hauls late last year. But the presentation and the taste is up there, the wine choice is good and it tends, in my experience, to be served with a smile. This was the first non-Q Suite trip for a while and the J seats in the A350 and B777 are fine. I did gain an immensely welcome op-up on the DOH-SYD sector to 1K: the Krug 2004 is extremely quaffable...
My BA short-hauls from LHR to ARN and back were fine, with an extremely proactive, engaged and upbeat crew on BA777 on Tuesday. Grub not bad. Not quite as good as QF in J on equivalent length flights, but acceptable. It really is all in the eye of the beholder. Go in looking for problems on any airline and you'll find some. Go in with a positive attitude and you'll perhaps find life more pleasurable.
