This happened over a month ago. They didn't deny boarding, they were downgraded to Y.
On that aircraft the seatbelt has an airbag and can't be extended so the pax would not be able to fasten their seatbelts.
The situation is unfortunate but there is no remedy to the issue.
When you attempt to book that flight in business class, a warning pops up stating "For safety reasons, plus size passenger and pa
ssenger travelling with infant are prohibited from travelling on business class of Boeing 787-9 aircraft. Please choose an alternative flight or contact THAI reservation/ticketing office." So this would not be a surprise.
