BTW, MP desk at Seoul doesn't open on Saturday and Sunday.

I should say "Sorry" to you.
I just went over the conditions and terms of *A award.
You can have one stopover when you travel between the regions.
However, you can only have a stopover in the region of origin or destination.
That means, you can have a stopover at either SFO or NRT.
But, you can't have a stopover in Hawaii.
If you don't like the MP agent in Seoul office, give a call to ticket department.
If you still don't like them, why don't you make a dial to MP in USA?
Another option is talk with UA agents in Busan(Pusan) office.
Personally, I like Busan agents more than Seoul agents, because they are friendly to me.
Have a fun trip to NRT or SFO.
