i'm resurrecting a dead thread here, but how about this scenario in TPA:

i booked a midsize from 2/25, 10a to 2/27, 5p.

i'm flying back to the northeast, where there's always the chance of IRROPS this time of year, and being bumped to a flight the next day.

can i reserve the car until 2/28 at 10a "just in case" and not be re-rated if i return 2/27 at 5p?

both reservations are the same price, since i'm being charged for 3 days in both scenarios. would the calendar date of the return being different from what was reserved trigger the re-rate?
