FWIW it doesn't always work out in the hotel's favour, so don't go rushing to assume that this method of quoting room rates is just a hotel scam.
the hotel is always selling their room in the local currency but Marriott who always displays in USD in certain countries (maybe only Latin America?). They aren’t losing money but fluctuations in currency.
